About Yates Cellars
Yates Cellars is a small, limited-production boutique winery in the Finger Lakes wine region, established in 2000. Its tasting room and sales shop occupy the Hampstead Mansion, a Yates County historic landmark built in 1838 by Henry Rose and listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Henry Rose House. The winery sits on Route 54A between Branchport and Penn Yan, tucked between the two forks of Keuka Lake.
All grapes are grown on the estate's two Keuka Lake vineyard locations, and the winery produces more than 25 varieties spanning native, French hybrid, and vinifera grapes. Owner, vineyard manager, and winemaker Alan Hunt brings over 50 years of experience in the wine industry to the operation.
Visitors can sample wines inside the 19th-century mansion, with tasting options available for both individuals and groups (groups of 10 or more are asked to call ahead). Guests are also welcome to enjoy wine by the glass or a bottle of beer on the mansion's large porch while taking in views of the surrounding countryside.
